Water Resistant

Water resistant (not waterproof)

The WobL watch is water is resistant, but what exactly does this mean?

Water Resistant means that the WobL watch is protected against limited humidities, such as rain, sweat and water splashes. The WobL+ watch is waterproof and can be held under water at a depth of 10,5 meter for a couple of minutes.

Watertightness in general:

Watches are made waterproof in different ways. Often a pressure bottom is used with a rubber "O" ring, to make the back of the watch water-resistant. To be able to handle a larger (water) pressure, the bottom can be screwed into the cabinet in order to handle even more water pressure.

A watch indicating that it is water resistant, without a depth or pressure indicated, is splashing water tight. Should the watch become completely wet, it should be dried again as soon as possible. When it is indicated how far a watch is waterproof, this is usually indicated in meters. The higher the number of meters the "deeper" the watch is watertight, but the number of meters must not be taken literally! It indicates which pressure the watch can withstand. A watch with a water resistance of 50 meters is in reality not suitable for swimming (but it can be showered with).

An overview of water tightness

Water Resistant: Protected against very limited humidities, such as rain, sweat and water splashes.

Water Resistant 30M (3 BAR / 3 ATM): Protected against splashing water such as hand washing and being completely volatile. Unsuitable for diving, swimming or diving.

Water Resistant 50M (5 BAR / 5 ATM): Suitable for getting wet, taking a shower, but not for swimming or diving.

Water Resistant 100M (10 BAR / 10 ATM): Suitable for swimming and snorkeling. Not suitable for deep diving.

Water Resistant from 200M (20 BAR / 20 ATM): Suitable for diving in seas or lakes. Not suitable for deep sea diving.

Water Resistant from 1000M (100 BAR / 100 ATM): Suitable for deep sea diving.

The WobL watch has a rubber ring to stop the first water droplets. Since the battery of the watch has to be replaced more often when the vibration function is used, this is the best possible density.

If the watch is completely wet, it must be dried as quickly as possible to prevent the water from penetrating into the interior. If the watch is completely submerged then the chances are that the inside is wet (or becomes) after which the watch will no longer function. If possible, it is wise to dry the watch and remove the tailgate and then the battery to let the watch dry in the air.
